Google Pixel Watch 5: the Pixel Watch 4, with a new Wear OS

Google's spec sheets list the same case, screen, health sensors, GPS and battery hours for both generations. What $399 buys this year, what the watch reads, where it falls short, and how its data reaches MyBodyAI.

The short version

Google's 2026 watch at $399, from 9,990 CZK in Czechia. Same case, screen, health sensors, GPS and quoted battery hours as Pixel Watch 4; what is new is Wear OS 7, 64 GB of storage, more RAM and a faster chip. It records 21 of the 33 health signals in the comparison catalog, ECG and AFib alerts included, and lasts 30 to 40 hours with the screen always on. Android only. Its data reaches MyBodyAI through a Google Health login, which passes 11 of those 21 signals on.

Google announced Pixel Watch 5 on 12 August 2026 and it has been on shelves since 20 August. Put Google's own spec pages for the two generations side by side and the health hardware does not change: the same sensors, the same 41 and 45 mm cases, the same weights, the same screen and the same battery hours. What changed is software, memory and processing power.

That makes this a short review with a clear answer for most readers, and a longer one for anybody coming from an older Pixel, a Fitbit or another brand.

Health signals read

What it reads

Pixel Watch 5 records heart rate around the clock with a resting rate and overnight HRV, overnight SpO2, breathing rate and skin temperature, sleep stages with a sleep score, steps, floors, distance, active minutes and workouts, VO2 max, a cardio load and a daily readiness score, and body response from its skin-conductance sensor. For the heart rhythm there is an ECG on demand and notifications for an irregular rhythm.

Measured against the 33 health signals scored for every device in the catalog, it records 21, the same 21 as Pixel Watch 4. No watch in the catalog records more; eleven models still on sale share the top spot. The row-by-row sheet is on the Pixel Watch 5 device page, next to the other 116 devices.

measured (21) not measured (12)
The twelve it leaves out: body temperature, blood pressure readings, a Body Battery style energy score, cardiovascular and vascular age, a sleep apnea index, and everything a smart scale weighs.

What is new against Pixel Watch 4

Comparing the Pixel Watch 5 spec page with the Pixel Watch 4 one, line by line:

  • Changed: Wear OS 7 instead of 6, 64 GB instead of 32 GB, the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 now labeled Accelerated (Google's launch post claims 50 percent more RAM and a 12 percent CPU boost, 20 percent faster overall), touchless one-handed gestures, a battery cell about two percent larger (332 and 465 mAh against 325 and 455), and Android 12 instead of 11 on the phone
  • Unchanged: every sensor, both case sizes, the weights, the screen, the dual-frequency GPS, 5 ATM and IP68, and the quoted 30 and 40 hours

Google's launch post promises the most accurate GPS tracking yet and Gemini suggestions you accept with a double pinch. The spec sheet lists the same dual-frequency GPS as for Pixel Watch 4.

The health news is not tied to the new watch. Health Guardian, rolling out since 24 September with the first reports in early October, gives monthly trend summaries for blood pressure, sleep breathing quality and insulin resistance, free on Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5, and Google labels them general wellness, not diagnosis. Breathing emergency detection, which calls emergency services when blood oxygen collapses and the wearer stops responding, runs on Pixel Watch 4 and 5. It is CE marked, neither cleared nor evaluated by the US FDA, and Google lists Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. The Czech Republic is not among the countries Google names.

Where it gives ground

Battery. 30 to 40 hours with the screen always on means a charger every night or every other night. Among the watches in the comparison catalog at this price that record an ECG, every other one still on sale, Pixel Watch 4 aside, lasts days.

Android only. No iPhone support at all, and the phone now has to run Android 12.

Blood pressure is a trend, not a number. Google presents the monthly summary as a general wellness trend, not a clinical reading, so there is no number to set against a cuff.

No energy score. Google gives you a daily readiness score, not a running Body Battery style tank through the day.

Nothing for body composition. Weight and body fat need a scale, as with every watch.

How it compares

Among watches in the catalog that record an ECG and at least 19 of the 33 signals, Pixel Watch 5 and Pixel Watch 4 are the two you charge most often:

Pixel Watch 5 1.7 days (40 h) Fitbit Sense 2 6 days Garmin Venu 4 12 days Withings ScanWatch 2 30 days
Makers' own figures, and not one usage profile: Google's hours are with the always-on display on the 45 mm model. Signals read: Pixel Watch 5 21, Fitbit Sense 2 21, Garmin Venu 4 21, Withings ScanWatch 2 19.

Fitbit Sense 2 ($299) reads the same 21 signals, lasts 6 days and also works with an iPhone. Garmin Venu 4 ($549) reads 21 and lasts 12 days. Withings ScanWatch 2 ($369) reads 19 and lasts 30 days. What Pixel Watch 5 gives back for the nightly charge is a full smartwatch: apps, payments, offline maps and LTE as an option.

Who it is for

Pixel Watch 5 fits an Android user who wants one device for smartwatch and health and does not mind a charger at the bedside, and anybody coming from Pixel Watch 2 or 3, where the step to the dual-frequency GPS and brighter screen that Pixel Watch 4 introduced is real.

It is not an upgrade from Pixel Watch 4: same readings, same battery, and the new trends arrive on the 4 as well. Pixel Watch 4 is still in the US Google Store, so check its price before you buy the 5. And it is the wrong watch for an iPhone, or for anybody who wants a week between charges.

How Pixel Watch data reaches MyBodyAI

For transparency, since this runs on the Aiclysm site: MyBodyAI reads Pixel Watch through Google Health, the app formerly called Fitbit, with one sign-in on your Google account. Google ended support for the older Fitbit Web API on 30 September 2026 and turns it off on 30 October, so Google Health is the route for a new watch. Google first shows a warning that it has not verified MyBodyAI; the link on that screen takes you on to the consent. The connector passes 11 of the watch's 21 signals into MyBodyAI's scores: resting heart rate, HRV, SpO2, breathing rate, sleep duration, stages and efficiency, steps, active minutes, calories and workouts. Skin temperature, ECG, AFib alerts, VO2 max, body response, cardio load, floors, distance and Google's own sleep and readiness scores stay in Google's app. Polar, Withings and Oura connect with a login too, Garmin through a file export.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pixel Watch 5 worth it over Pixel Watch 4?

Not for health tracking. Google lists the same sensors, the same case and the same battery hours for both, and the new Health Guardian trends run on Pixel Watch 3 and 4 as well. Pixel Watch 5 adds Wear OS 7, 64 GB instead of 32 GB, more RAM and a chip Google calls 20 percent faster. If Pixel Watch 4 costs less where you buy, it reads the same 21 signals.

Does Pixel Watch 5 work with an iPhone?

No. Google requires a phone with Android 12 or newer and the Pixel Watch app. Pixel Watch 4 needed Android 11, so a few older phones drop out this year.

How long does the Pixel Watch 5 battery last?

Google quotes up to 30 hours for the 41 mm model and up to 40 hours for the 45 mm model with the always-on display, and 48 or 72 hours in Battery Saver. About 15 minutes on the dock gets either to 50 percent.

Does Pixel Watch 5 need a subscription?

Not for its measurements. Google Health Premium adds AI coaching on top, and the US store includes three months of it.

Does Pixel Watch 5 measure blood pressure?

Not as a reading. Google is rolling out a monthly blood pressure trend summary, the first reports arriving in early October 2026, and labels it a general wellness feature, not a clinical reading. For a number you need a cuff.

Does Pixel Watch 5 work with MyBodyAI?

Yes, through Google Health, the app formerly called Fitbit: one sign-in with your Google account. MyBodyAI takes 11 of the watch's 21 signals into its scores, among them resting heart rate, HRV, SpO2, breathing rate and sleep. Skin temperature, ECG, VO2 max, body response and Google's own sleep and readiness scores, among others, stay in Google's app.
