E-mails, notifications, widgets and the watch app

We send e-mails and push notifications for a short list of things: a morning verdict, a weekly report on Mondays, a warning when your data stop arriving, the end of a trial, and security events. Settings, section "Notifications", holds the switches. On Android the app also adds eight home-screen widgets, and a Garmin watch app shows your scores on the wrist after you pair it with a code.

Where the switches are#

Open Settings, section "Notifications" ("Oznámení"). It has up to four rows:

  • "Push notifications" ("Push oznámení"): the phone or browser notifications.
  • "Email from MyBodyAI" ("E-maily z MyBodyAI"): all e-mails except the ones that always come.
  • "News by email" ("Novinky e-mailem"): only the news and new-version mails.
  • "Garmin export reminder" ("Připomínka exportu z Garminu"): shown only for an account that imported a Garmin export.

The weekly report itself is not a setting. It opens from the account menu (the avatar at the top right), item "Weekly report".

E-mails#

What always comes#

Settings says it in one line: "Sign-in codes, security alerts, replies to your messages and the notice before an inactive account is deleted always come." Those four come whatever you switch.

What you can switch off#

The switch "Email from MyBodyAI" covers: "The weekly report, a notice when data stops arriving, the end of the trial and of the subscription, news." The switch also covers the mails about your own actions: the welcome, the confirmation of a payment or of a plan change, the start of the trial and the note that a Garmin import finished. Switch it off and none of those come. Switching it on again also lifts an earlier unsubscribe from a mail. At registration the same choice is the box "Send me e-mails: the weekly summary, a notice when data stops arriving, and news." which is ticked for you.

If the row cannot read your setting, it says "Could not read the email setting. Tap to try again."

News by email#

The row "News by email" says: "What is new in the app and in new versions. With this off, the weekly report and notices about your data still come." So you can drop the release mails and keep the warnings. While "Email from MyBodyAI" is off, the news row is shown off and cannot move: "Off together with all email. You can switch it on once email from MyBodyAI is on." Your choice for news is kept and applies again when you switch e-mail back on.

Unsubscribe links#

The two links do different things.

  • The link in a news mail stops the news only. The page says "Unsubscribed from news" and that the weekly report and notices about your account and data still come.
  • The link in every other mail (the weekly report, for example) stops all e-mail except the ones that always come. The page says "Unsubscribed" and names what still comes.

Your mail app's own "Unsubscribe" button does the same as the footer link. Either way you switch e-mails back on in Settings, section "Notifications".

How many we send#

We keep automatic mail low with a weekly allowance for each account. In any 7 days, an important mail (a device went quiet, a trial or period is about to end) is held back once two counted mails have already gone out. A routine mail (the onboarding nudges, the Garmin export reminder, the notices that no score or no HRV has arrived yet) goes only in a week with no other counted mail. The weekly report is the exception: only another routine mail holds it back. A held mail is simply offered again on a later pass if it still applies.

The allowance never holds back: sign-in codes, security notices, replies to your messages, the welcome and payment mails, "your connection expired", "your Premium has ended" and the notice before an inactive account is deleted.

The weekly report by e-mail#

The weekly report mail is part of Premium. It is sent on Monday at 10:00 Central European time, once a week, in the language of your account. Its subject is "Your week". It describes the week that ended on Sunday, and holds:

  • the week's average readiness, its change against the week before and a bar for each day,
  • Body Status by day, four indices as week averages, up to four numbers from your body's week (sleep, steps, heart, HRV) and up to three stand-outs,
  • key changes, biological age against your calendar age, the key insight and "For the week ahead",
  • when a data problem is going on, a line that says so, instead of a separate mail,
  • a button "Open the full report".

No mail is sent when the week holds nothing measured, or when the account has no data at all. A push notification follows for the accounts that got the mail: "Your weekly report is ready." It opens the report, and it is not sent at night where you are.

The weekly report in the app#

Open the avatar menu and choose "Weekly report". The page shows one closed calendar week, Monday to Sunday in your time zone, against the week before it and the weeks before that. It never describes a week still running: on a Monday you see the week that ended yesterday. The arrows step to earlier weeks, as far back as your first week with data, and "Back to Overview" returns. The report is part of Premium.

What is on the page#

Each block draws only when your devices measure what it shows, so a phone that counts steps gets a week of steps and a scale gets a week of weight. Nothing is drawn empty.

  • The head: "Readiness, week average" with its change "vs last week", the line "5 of 7 days measured" and the day-by-day states in "Body Status through the week".
  • "Day by day" and "Your week in numbers": sleep duration, resting heart rate, HRV, steps, active minutes, distance, active energy, floors, stress, morning energy, weight and the body measurements and night readings your devices send.
  • "Indices, week average" and "This week's stand-outs".
  • "Sleep and its rhythm": the average night, bedtime and wake-up, how regular your bedtimes were and the night by stage.
  • "Movement and training": steps by day, WHO activity minutes and the count of recorded activities.
  • "Your heart at night" and "Weight through the week".
  • A trend of the last 8 weeks with a switch for the quantity.
  • "Key changes", and, for the latest week only, "What to do next" and "The days ahead", because advice is about now.

Rules behind it#

  • A weekly mean needs 3 days of data. A total (steps, active minutes) needs 2 days, and weight is the week's last weighing.
  • A change against last week is shown only when both weeks have 3 days or more (for weight and single readings, one is enough).
  • A night of 7 hours or more counts toward the "nights of 7 hours" fact.
  • A weekend that shifts your sleep midpoint by 60 minutes or more earns a sentence about it.
  • "Best in N weeks" facts need at least 4 earlier weeks with data.
  • WHO activity minutes count 150 a week as the line for adults, a vigorous minute counting twice.
  • Numbers use your unit system (see Settings).
  • In energy pacing mode, steps by day, WHO minutes and the training balance give way to the card "Days within limits" (see Energy pacing).

Push notifications#

Turning them on#

The row "Push notifications" is a switch. In a browser, it asks for the browser's permission. On an iPhone you first add MyBodyAI to the home screen ("Share → Add to Home Screen") and enable notifications there. In the Android app it asks for the phone's permission, and after two refusals Android no longer shows the dialog: the row then says "Notifications are blocked" and offers "Open phone settings". Each browser and each phone is switched on separately.

The morning notification#

Once a day, between 7:00 and 11:00 on your own clock (your time zone is in Settings, section "Profile"), you get the day's verdict as the Overview shows it: the state and its number as the title, and the reason as the text. With Premium the text is the headline and the advice of the story of the day instead. The free plan gets the verdict too.

  • It waits for last night's data. It goes as soon as last night's data have landed. In the last hour of the window it sends whatever verdict the app would show, provided its data are no older than yesterday, and then it begins with "Last night's data has not arrived yet, this is yesterday's state."
  • It stays silent when the app itself would show no verdict, for example "not enough data yet".
  • A phone-fed account: in the hour before the window, and again in each hour of it while the night is missing, we ask your phone silently to read Health Connect. Nothing appears on the phone for that.
  • A danger reading from the safety alerts goes out as a critical notification, once per episode.
  • In energy pacing mode a good day reads "A rest day" or "A gentle day" instead of praise, so the notification matches the coach.

Notifications about events#

NotificationWhen it comes

Your Premium has ended. The free features stay as they are. When Premium ends
A reminder about the next step in setting upIn the first days, until data arrive
A security event (new device sign-in, password, second factor)At once, always

The "device went quiet" notices follow the rules in Troubleshooting. Quiet hours apply to everything except security events: it is night where you are before 7:00 and from 22:00, and a notification that would land then is skipped, not held until the morning. Security alerts always go out, even at night. Notifications stay off until you enable them, and turning them off removes your device from our list. The text of a notification can name a health state such as low recovery (see Privacy and your data).

Android channels#

The Android app sorts notifications into five channels, so you can mute one in the phone's own settings without losing the rest:

ChannelWhat it carries
"Body alerts"The critical morning notifications. High importance.
"Daily signals"The morning verdict.
"Account and security"Sign-ins from a new device, password, second factor, and the notices that a device went quiet. High importance.
"Subscription"Trial ending, Premium ended, payment problems.
"Reports and milestones"The weekly report and milestones. Low importance.

The Garmin export reminder#

The row "Garmin export reminder" says: "At most once every 4 days, when your newest Garmin night of HRV is 4 or more days old. Once Garmin is linked directly and overnight HRV arrives on its own, the reminder stays quiet." It comes around 18:00 your time, by push first, and by e-mail instead only when no push reaches you and e-mail is on.

Android widgets and tiles#

The widgets need the Android app, signed in. Add them from your phone's widget picker, under MyBodyAI. Tapping any widget opens the app. There are eight in the picker:

WidgetStarting sizeWhat it shows
"Body Status"4 x 2The dial and four cards: Recovery, Sleep, Stress and Immunity. Some sizes add biological age.
"Body Status gauge"2 x 2The dial alone, its number and the state's word.
"Body"4 x 4The Health tab's figure with the six body systems.
"Sleep"2 x 2Last night's score on a ring and how long the night was. An older night carries its date, and "No night yet" appears when there is none.
"Overnight HRV"2 x 2This week's mean against your own band, with the number of nights behind it.
"Body Status trend"4 x 2The last 30 days of Body Status, the line smoothed over 3 days, the newest day's number and the 30-day mean dashed.
"Overnight HRV trend"4 x 2The last 30 nights against your own band: each night a dot, the 7-day mean the line.
"Sleep debt"2 x 2The sleep you owe and the debt at the end of each of the last seven nights.

The "Body Status" and "Body" widgets are one design at every size: shrunk to one cell it is the gauge alone, stretched it grows toward the Health tab's figure. The six tiles keep one picture and only scale.

How often they refresh#

  • When you place a widget, it fetches at once.
  • About once an hour, on Android's own update, and after each time the app reads new data from your phone (the phone reads Health Connect about once an hour, see Sync) or you open the app.
  • At most one fetch every two minutes, so the updates cannot loop. A newly placed widget is the exception.
  • Nothing is fetched while no widget is placed. With no connection, a widget keeps the last numbers it had.
  • The lines of past days are fetched at most hourly, since they change once a day.

Look and the free plan#

Press and hold a widget and choose its settings (Android 12 and newer), or see them once when you place it (Android 9 to 11). "Widget look" has a slider "Background transparency", from "Full background" to "No background". With the background faded, the text lightens and gains a dark shadow so it reads on a light wallpaper. The setting is per widget. A widget uses the language of your account.

On the free plan the gauge widget works. The sleep, HRV, trend and debt tiles, and the figure of the "Body" widget, show "Premium" instead (see Plans).

The Garmin watch app#

A small MyBodyAI app for Garmin watches, installed from the Connect IQ Store. It is an app, not a watch face. It draws MyBodyAI's own scores only, never Garmin's, and it sends your day's stress, Body Battery and recovery time from the wrist. The store page lists the watches it installs on, and if your model is not there, a code will not help.

Pairing#

  1. Open Settings, section "Devices" ("Zařízení"), the card "Garmin watch app (Connect IQ)", and press "Generate pairing code".
  2. The card shows a 6-character code ("Pairing code") and "Expires in {time}". The code is valid for 24 hours, works once, and a new code cancels the old one. It uses letters and digits without 0, 1, I and O, so it is easy to read. "Copy" copies it.
  3. In the Garmin Connect mobile app, open MyBodyAI, then Settings, then "Pairing Code" and paste the code.
  4. Open MyBodyAI on the watch itself. The setting travels over Bluetooth, but the app picks it up only when it runs. The watch shows "Paired", or "Code rejected" when the code was wrong or expired.

Then the card says "A watch is paired" with the date. One watch is paired to an account at a time, and pairing another replaces it. "Unpair watch" asks "This stops the paired watch immediately." and cuts it off: the key stops working, sending stops, and the watch app asks to be paired again ("Not paired: get a code in the MyBodyAI app, enter it in Garmin Connect"). Unpair a watch you lose or sell.

In Garmin Connect, the app's settings hold "Pairing Code (from web app)", "Sync Mode" ("Manual" or "Automatic", automatic by default), "Sync Interval" (15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes, 120 by default) and "Language" (English or Čeština).

The six screens#

You move between them with a swipe or the up and down buttons. Each draws only your MyBodyAI numbers.

  1. Training readiness (the home screen): a dial with the zone word, what lifts and drags it in points, the sleep debt and how long ago the data were fetched.
  2. Energy map ("ENERGY MAP"): the day's energy curve with the best time to train and a marker for now, as on the app's energy map (see Morning energy).
  3. Readiness drivers ("DRIVERS"): up to five rows, Recovery, Sleep, Energy, Stress and Load, biggest mover on top. SELECT switches between the influence in points and the raw 0 to 100 component.
  4. Health ("HEALTH"): the body figure in the color of today's Body Status and six rings, Nerves, Heart, Immunity, Breathing, Recovery and Resilience. SELECT, or a tap on a ring, opens that system's detail, where up and down cycles through the six and Back returns.
  5. Sleep debt ("SLEEP DEBT"): the debt in hours on a 0 to 8 h+ scale and the last seven days.
  6. Biological age ("BIOLOGICAL AGE"): your biological age against your calendar age and the six domains on a radar, with "low confidence" when the model is unsure.

A small glance on the watch shows a readiness teaser.

Controls and freshness#

SELECT starts a sync on screens where it has no other job. BACK goes home or leaves. MENU (a long press of the middle-left button, or the touch menu gesture) opens "Settings" with "Refresh interval" and "Language". The bottom row shows how old the data are ("right now", "5m ago", "3h ago", "2d ago", "stale"). When the numbers are about two hours old they are drawn as stale, and the next swipe tries to refresh them.

What the watch sends#

The watch sends back the day's stress (average, maximum and the hours covered), the Body Battery curve (morning peak, latest level, charged and drained) and Garmin's recovery time in hours. These are the three things Health Connect cannot carry, so for them the wrist is the only source. Nothing else leaves the watch: no all-day heart rate, no location, no activity files. It sends at the sync interval you chose. It reads your scores with its own key, which you cancel by unpairing.

On the free plan the watch receives only the day's Body Status verdict, and its other screens stay empty.

Frequently asked questions#

I pressed unsubscribe and now the weekly report stopped. Why?#

The unsubscribe link in the weekly report, and the "Unsubscribe" button of your mail app, stop all e-mail except sign-in codes, security notices, replies and the inactive-account notice. Switch "Email from MyBodyAI" on again in Settings, section "Notifications". The weekly report is Premium, so it also needs Premium.

I want fewer mails but still want the warnings. What do I switch off?#

Switch off "News by email" only. The weekly report and the notices about your data keep coming.

Why did no morning notification come today?#

The usual reasons: the app shows no verdict yet, because there is not enough data. Last night's data had not arrived by 11:00 and were older than yesterday. Push is blocked in the phone or browser. For an event notice, it was night where you are, and such notices are skipped, not held. Check Settings, section "Notifications", and the phone's channel settings.

Why does the weekly report say a week is empty?#

A week with nothing measured is not a report. A weekly mean needs 3 days of data, so a week with fewer shows no averages, and the week before is used only when both weeks have 3 days.

My widget shows "Premium" or old numbers.#

"Premium" means your account is on the free plan, where only the gauge shows. Old numbers mean the widget could not fetch: it keeps the last ones. Open the app, which refreshes every widget, and check your connection.

The watch says "Code rejected".#

The code is wrong, expired (24 hours) or already used. Generate a new one in Settings, section "Devices", enter it under "Pairing Code" in Garmin Connect, and open the app on the watch.

Does the watch app measure my HRV or heart rate?#

No. It draws your MyBodyAI scores and sends stress, Body Battery and recovery time. Your heart rate and sleep reach us through your Garmin link or the phone (see Devices).

MyBodyAI is a wellness app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose. If you feel unwell, ask a doctor.
