Troubleshooting data and connections

Most data problems have one of four causes: the device has not synced with its own app, the login to a service expired, the phone has not been allowed to read Health Connect, or the data are on their way and need a few more minutes. The Devices page shows a badge on every connected source, and the badge tells you which case you are in. This page lists each badge and banner with its exact words, and the steps for every source.

Start here#

  1. Open “Devices” and look at the card of the source that worries you. A badge in its top right corner says what we see.
  2. Open the device's own app (Garmin Connect, Polar Flow, the Oura app, Health Mate, the COROS app, the Google Health app) and let it sync. We can only read what the maker or Health Connect holds.
  3. Wait a few minutes, then press “Fetch new data” on the Health tab (see Sync).
  4. If the badge still says a source is quiet, find it in the next section and follow the steps.

Badges and banners#

Each connected card carries one badge. If a source has been silent for a number of days, the badge adds it, for example “Slow sync · 9 days”.

In Czech the badges read “Čekáme na data”, “Nic nedorazilo”, “Data váznou”, “Nedodává data”, “Ukončeno” and “Jen z exportu”.

When a badge appears#

A source counts as quiet when the newest delivery is older than a limit. The count follows whichever is older: the maker's last delivery, or the newest day this source actually filled in. A workout pushed into a tracker by another app therefore does not hide that its daily data stopped.

Source“Slow sync” after“No data flowing” after“Nothing received” after
Polarmore than 7 daysmore than 30 days12 hours
Withingsmore than 21 daysmore than 45 days72 hours
Oura, COROS, Google Health, Garmin linkmore than 7 daysmore than 30 days24 hours
Garmin exportmore than 7 daysmore than 60 daysnot used

A Polar watch last delivered 9 days ago, so its card reads “Slow sync · 9 days”. If it stays silent past 30 days the badge becomes “No data flowing”. A Withings scale you step on every three weeks shows no badge until more than 21 days have passed since the last weigh-in.

A scale gets the longer limit because stepping on it every third week is normal use. “Nothing received” means a source is linked and has never delivered anything since the link, once the first wait is over. A phone or a Garmin watch app that pushes on its own is judged more strictly: it is quiet after more than 3 days and “not sending” after more than 7.

The banner on the Overview#

When at least one source needs you, a banner appears at the top of the Overview and on the Connect page. Its heading depends on the problem:

  • “Some devices are not sending data” with the action “Fix”, followed by the sources and the age of their silence, for example “Polar (9 days ago)”.
  • “Device login expired” with “Reconnect”: the permission you gave expired and must be granted again.
  • “No data has arrived yet”: a source is linked and nothing has come.
  • “Some devices need attention”: the banner lists problems of several kinds.
  • “Copies from your phone are read only by our Android app” with “Phone”: Google Health holds only copies that your phone mirrored into it.
  • “Time for a fresh export” with “Upload”: a Garmin export has not been refreshed for a week. When the direct link is available the heading is “Garmin now links directly” with “Link”.

Press the banner to jump to the card that can fix the problem. The cross hides the banner for 12 hours. A new problem brings it back at once. For a phone or a watch app the banner also says what stopped: “last write from Garmin Connect 3/11”, “open the MyBodyAI app”, “allow background reading”, “allow access to Health Connect”, “Health Connect is missing” or “Health Connect answers with an error”.

A provider outage#

If a maker's service fails for everyone at once, a banner says “{Name} is temporarily unavailable” and “The outage is on the provider's side, not your device's. Once the service is back, your data downloads on its own.” with “Out since {time}.” The card says the same in a line. There is nothing for you to do, and the silence banner stays quiet meanwhile.

“No current data”#

On the Health, Sleep, Activities, Performance, Trends and Progress tabs a card titled “No current data” says “Not shown right now: …” and lists the scores we are holding back because the signals they stand on are older than they stay valid for. Under it, “Last measured 3/11 (4 days ago). The rest of the overview runs on what did arrive.” Usually this is overnight HRV that stopped while steps still come. You can close it with the cross, and it opens again when a new score is held back. See Body Status for the night rule.

We also tell you by e-mail and a push notification when a device has gone quiet. Both can be switched off in Settings, “Notifications”.

No data yet#

You connected a source and the charts are empty.

  1. Wait for the first import. The top banner says “Fetching your … data, this usually takes up to 30 minutes”. After 30 minutes it reads “The … import is taking longer than usual” and keeps running on our side. We stop waiting after six hours.
  2. Garmin: sync the watch. The direct link sends nothing until the watch syncs with Garmin Connect. The banner says “Waiting for your watch to sync with Garmin Connect”. Start a sync in the Garmin Connect app, or with Garmin Express on a computer.
  3. Check the pairing in the maker's app. “Nothing received” usually means the app holds no device. For Polar an account with no watch or strap paired answers with nothing.
  4. COROS: the region. A COROS login only works in the region that holds the account. Try the other button, “Connect (Europe)” or “Connect (rest of world)”.
  5. Google Health: “No Google Health”. This Google account has no Google Health, so nothing comes from it. Open the Google Health app (formerly Fitbit) on your phone, sign in with the same Google account and finish the setup. Data then start by the next day at the latest. If you have neither a Fitbit nor a Pixel Watch, disconnect this connection and use Health Connect.
  6. Google Health: “Nothing received”. Google Health holds nothing from the last 90 days. It keeps only what a Fitbit or a Pixel Watch records. If you wear one, open its app so it syncs. If you wear another watch, allow Health Connect in the MyBodyAI app instead.
  7. Your first scores take time. The first daily scores and Body Status appear after about three measured nights. Your baseline for sleep and resting heart rate is ready after 7 days. The HRV band needs 28 days of nights, which is four weeks. The gray state “Insufficient data” in Body Status is usually this, not a fault. See Body Status.

Data stopped#

The card was fine and the data have stopped.

  1. Let the device sync. Open the maker's app. A watch that has not synced with its app has nothing to send.
  2. Is the login still valid? A card with “Reconnect”, or a banner “Device login expired”, means the permission expired. Press “Reconnect” and agree again. The data that already arrived normally stay (see the question on “Reconnect” below for the exception).
  3. Is it an outage? A banner “… is temporarily unavailable” means the service itself is down. Wait.
  4. Did you change something? A source you disconnected stops delivering. A phone with the switch “Use data from the phone” off keeps sending but we discard it.
  5. The Garmin link. The card says “The link to Garmin has expired, so no new data arrives. Click Connect again to renew it.” Press “Reconnect”.
  6. Still silent? Disconnect the source and connect it again. The last 90 days are read back. For a source that deletes its data on disconnect, the window tells you before you confirm.

Health Connect on Android#

The card “Health Connect on this phone” on the Devices page, and the same card in Settings, “Devices”, shows the state of the permission and of the store.

  • “Connect Health Connect”. You have not granted the permission. Press it, and Android opens its own dialog. If no dialog opens (Android stops showing it after two refusals), the card says: “If no dialog opened, search your phone settings for “Health Connect”, open App permissions and allow MyBodyAI there.”
  • “Connected”. The grant is in place. The card adds “Manage the permissions in the Health Connect app.”
  • “Allow background access”. The card says “Background access is missing, so data leaves this phone only while the app is open. Nothing is sent overnight.” Press the button and pick background access in the dialog. The rest is already granted.
  • “Allow 90 days of history”. “Without this permission Health Connect gives the app only the 30 days before you connected it. Allow it and we read the past 90 days.”
  • “Health Connect is empty so far”. Reading is allowed, but Health Connect holds nothing. Your watch or ring app fills it (Garmin Connect, Samsung Health, Zepp), and the phone step counter does so through Samsung Health or Google Fit. Turn on sharing there, or connect the device directly.
  • “Health Connect is not answering”. Reading is allowed, but Health Connect answers with an error. Open the Health Connect app in your phone settings, check that it is up to date, then press “Read again”.
  • “Health Connect is not available on this phone. Install it from the Play Store.” On Android 13 and older it is a separate app. If it is out of date, you see “Update Health Connect”.

Below the card, a panel “The phone as a data source” says when the phone last wrote: “The phone is sending Health Connect data. It last wrote on 3/11/2026.” If it stopped, it reads “The phone has written nothing for 5 days. Last time was 29/10/2026.” It lists what the phone supplies, by group (Movement, Heart rate, Sleep and so on) with the app that wrote it. A line “We have no current data for: …” names signals the phone does not supply, with the day each last measured or “never”. A watch app that writes into Health Connect but not your night or resting heart rate gets its own hint: let the app write sleep and resting heart rate into Health Connect, and wear the watch overnight. The switch “Use data from the phone” stops us accepting what the phone sends. The panel hides itself when the phone has never written anything.

Samsung watches need the Samsung Health app: turn on its Health Connect link there and allow Health Connect in MyBodyAI. Garmin Connect writes steps, heart rate and sleep, but no overnight HRV and no stress, so those come from the Garmin link or an export.

Garmin: history and export#

“Add your Garmin history”. After linking Garmin, a card or window offers the older days. Through the link Garmin sends data only from the moment you linked. The older days, up to 90 back, come from a one-off Garmin Connect export (“How to get the export”), and on Android also from Health Connect (“Allow Health Connect”) for steps, heart rate and sleep. The HRV band, which judges your nights, needs about four weeks of nights without the export and appears at once with a 90-day export. The card closes with the cross, or when the band stands, or when an export is uploaded.

How to request the export. It works only in a browser on a computer, not on a phone.

  1. Sign in at garmin.com and open the Account Management Center.
  2. Under “Data Management”, press “Request your data”.
  3. Garmin prepares a ZIP and e-mails you a download link. This can take up to 48 hours.
  4. On your computer, open MyBodyAI, press “Add history from an export” on the Garmin card, scroll down in the window, press “Pick ZIP or FIT” and choose the file. Do not unzip it.
  5. Pick the length of history (the choices go up to “Last 90 days (max)”), tick “I confirm the uploaded data are my own.”, and press “Upload & import”.
  6. Wait for “Garmin import finished” and keep the page open until then. A line says how many days were imported, how many had sleep and how many had overnight HRV.

A quicker per-day export from Garmin Connect (a ZIP named by date) works too, but it holds only the days you downloaded and no sleep length or stages. Garmin does not send workouts that another app (ROUVY or Zwift) uploaded. Add each one: open it in Garmin Connect on a computer, press the gear icon, choose “Export File”, and upload that ZIP or its FIT file with “Pick ZIP or FIT”.

Limits. 150 MB, 250 files and 90 days per upload. One workout file may be 5 MB. A browser prepares a large export on your side and uploads only the chosen period, which can take a few minutes.

What the messages mean.

  • “File too large (limit 150 MB).” Pick a shorter period, or upload less.
  • “File is not a valid ZIP. Please re-download the export from garmin.com.”
  • “The file was read but contained no days to import.” Check that it is the Garmin data export, and that the period covers days you wore the watch.
  • “This file carried no nights.” A daily export has the sleep score but not the sleep itself, so sleep quality, sleep debt, body clock and breathing stay empty. The full export includes them.
  • “The file carried nights but not one with overnight HRV.” A watch without HRV Status has none at all. Recovery and Nervous System stay on the last HRV night we have.
  • “Some files of the export (N) could not be read and will not be uploaded.” The rest uploads as usual.
  • “Too many requests. Please try again shortly.” or “Import is available again in N min.” The import allows 6 finished imports an hour and 15 a day, and a failed attempt does not use that quota, but 20 attempts an hour is the ceiling.

After the import, the data appear in the Overview after the next score sync.

Fitbit and Pixel Watch#

Google ended the interface that sent Fitbit data to us, so a Fitbit link no longer syncs. Your history so far stays. If you see “Connect your Fitbit again, another way”, pick one of the two ways.

  • Android. In the Google Health app (formerly Fitbit) turn on sharing to Health Connect, sleep and heart rate included, then allow Health Connect in MyBodyAI. If the Overview says your phone already shares Fitbit's activity but not its sleep or heart rate, the missing switch is the sleep and heart-rate sharing inside the Google Health app.
  • iPhone, or when that fails. Connect Google Health on the Connect page. Google first shows a warning that it has not verified MyBodyAI, and you can continue with the link on that screen.

If the old Fitbit card is still connected next to Google Health or Health Connect, you can disconnect it. While the old link is connected, the phone's copy of the same Fitbit's steps, resting heart rate and weight is left out, so a dead Fitbit link is worth disconnecting, to let the phone's copy through.

Numbers differ from the device's own app#

Two apps can read the same night differently. The usual reasons:

  • A different moment. We show what the maker or Health Connect handed us at the last sync. The maker's app may already hold newer data. The label of the Sync button tells you when data last arrived.
  • A different source for the same value. With several devices, a value comes from one of them. The chip beside a number names it, for example “measured · Oura”. Steps can be taken from another device, see Sources and overlap.
  • A different definition. Makers define sleep, HRV, calories and recovery in their own way. We use the numbers the device delivers. The resting heart rate may be worked out by us from the night's own samples, marked “from night”.
  • A different score. Recovery, Body Status, Stress Load and Morning Energy are our scores, computed against your own baseline. They are not the maker's score under another name. Where a device has its own recovery score, such as Oura Readiness or Polar Nightly Recharge, we show it next to ours and say whose it is. On a Garmin, Morning Energy starts from the Body Battery at waking. See Recovery and Readiness and Morning Energy.
  • A different night. The night is sleep that reaches into 21:00 to 09:00 on your clock, and daytime sleep counts as a nap. A watch that files a daytime sleep as the night can differ.
  • Energy. We show the device's calories when it sent a believable number and estimate otherwise, see Activities.
  • A day is yours. A day runs midnight to midnight in your own time zone.

A session or a night is missing#

A workout. Check the Activities tab, which also lists rows it does not count, with a label such as “Not counted · duplicate” or “Not counted · under a minute”. The rules are in Activities. A workout you deleted earlier is not added again. A workout another app uploaded to Garmin Connect is not passed on by Garmin, so add it from its FIT file. An activity the device did not name appears as “Workout”, and you can say what it was.

A night. If the date shows no night, look first at the Sleep tab. A night that is far from your usual one carries a note with the choices “Use the night from …” and “Delete this night”. A deleted night is left out of the scores until you press “Undo”. If a night has not arrived at all, the Overview says “Provisional” and uses your usual night until it does. A sleep shorter than 30 minutes is not accepted as a night. See Sources and overlap.

The Garmin watch app#

If the pairing code does not work, check three things:

  • The code has expired. It is valid for 24 hours. The card says “Code expired. Generate a new one.” Press “Generate new”. A new code replaces the earlier one.
  • You pressed it too often. “Too many attempts. Try again shortly.” Wait a minute.
  • The app did not pick the setting up. The code travels from the Garmin Connect app to the watch over Bluetooth, but the watch app takes it only when it runs. Open MyBodyAI on the watch itself.

If your watch model is not listed on the store page, a code will not help. One watch is paired to an account at a time. “Unpair watch” stops the paired watch immediately, and the watch app then asks to be paired again. Use it if you lose or sell the watch.

Frequently asked questions#

My watch synced but MyBodyAI shows nothing new. Why?#

Check that the watch synced with its own app, and give it up to 30 minutes. For the Garmin link, the data arrive a few minutes after the watch syncs. On Android, open the MyBodyAI app and press “Fetch new data”.

What does “Slow sync” mean?#

Nothing new has arrived from that source for more than a week (more than three weeks for Withings). Open the maker's app, let it sync, and wait.

What does “Reconnect” do to my data?#

You grant the permission again and data flow again. The data that already arrived stay, except for a service whose terms require deletion when the login expires. Its card then says “The data that came through this connection is deleted, as its maker's terms require. If you connect again, the last 90 days are read back.”

The app asks me to allow background access. Do I have to?#

Without it the phone sends data only while the app is open, and nothing overnight. Your nights would be missing.

Why does my Garmin card say “Export only”?#

You have an export on file but no direct link. Press “Connect Garmin” to link, so that new days arrive on their own.

I deleted a source and my data are still there. Is that right?#

Yes, for most sources. For a few, the maker's terms require deletion, and the window tells you before you confirm. To remove everything, see Privacy and your data.

MyBodyAI is a wellness app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose. If you feel unwell, ask a doctor.
