Settings, section by section

Settings is a list of nine sections: General, Profile, Goals, Devices, Notifications, Account & security, Subscription, Data & privacy and Contact. Most switches save at once, and a few need "Save". This page goes through them in the order the app shows them, with every field, its default and range, what it changes, and the entry that explains the effect.

How Settings is laid out#

Open Settings from the account menu: tap your initials in the top right corner (on a computer, at the bottom of the bar on the left) and choose "Settings" ("Nastavení"). The same menu holds "Weekly report", "Help", "What's new", "Pricing" (not in the Android app), "Install app" when your browser can install it, and "Log out".

On a phone, Settings opens as a list in four groups, one section per screen, with a back arrow:

GroupSections
1General, Profile, Goals
2Devices, Notifications
3Account & security, Subscription, Data & privacy
4Contact

The General row shows your choices on its second line, for example "Dark · English · Metric", and the Profile row shows what you filled in, for example "38 years · 180 cm · 82.5 kg". From a width of 840 px up (a tablet, an unfolded foldable, a computer) the list is a narrow column beside the open section. Each section has its own address, such as aiclysm.com/mybodyai/settings/notifications, so a support reply can link straight to it. An older link to "Appearance" opens General.

What saves how:

  • At once: everything in General, Notifications, Devices switches, the route map and each security action.
  • With "Save profile": name, birth date, sex, time zone, height, weight and maximum heart rate.
  • With their own button: the location, a fixed step goal, the training goal and the energy pacing ceiling.

General#

General holds four switches. All apply at once, and there is nothing to save.

Appearance#

"Appearance" ("Vzhled"): "Dark" ("Tmavý"), "Light" ("Světlý") or "System" ("Systém"), which follows your phone or computer. The default is dark. The choice is kept in your account, so it follows you to another device.

Text size#

"Text size" ("Velikost textu"): "Normal", "Larger" or "Largest", which draw the whole app at 100%, 115% or 130%, "text, cards and charts alike, so nothing overlaps". The row appears only on a touch screen, since a computer has its own zoom. It works like pinch zoom: a page that is 412 px wide at 130% lays itself out at about 317 px, like a narrower phone. A small phone gets the largest scale that still leaves 300 px of layout, so 360 px at "Largest" is drawn at 120%. The choice is per device and is not synced.

Language#

"Language" ("Jazyk"): "Čeština" or "English". It is kept in your account, and the e-mails we send follow it. It changes the app and the weekly report. The website has its own language switch.

Units#

"Units" ("Jednotky") has four choices.

ChoicePrints
"Auto"A guess from your time zone, made once
"Metric"km, kg, cm, °C
"US"miles, pounds, feet and inches, °F
"UK"miles, stones and pounds, feet and inches, °C

With "Auto" the line under the row says "Guessed from your time zone" and names the result: a US time zone gives US, a UK zone gives UK, every other zone (a Czech browser set to American English included) gives metric. "We guess once; travel does not change it." Every number is stored in metric and converted only when it is printed or typed, so changing units never alters your data. Heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, BMI, steps, breathing and calories do not change. A pool swim stays per 100 m. After a switch, the sentences the coach writes with temperatures (the weather line, skin-temperature alerts) are fetched again in the new units. The choice is kept in your account.

Profile#

"Profile" ("Profil") describes you. The numbers here set the targets your days are scored against, so a change can change past numbers.

The fields#

FieldWhat to enterWhat it does
"Display name"Up to 50 charactersGreets you on the Overview and shows in the account menu.
"Birth date"A date, not in the future"Helps calculate age-adjusted health baselines".
"Sex""Male" or "Female""Affects HRV, sleep, and stress metric thresholds".
"Time zone"A zone from the listDecides where one day ends and the next begins.
"Height"50 to 280 cmWith the weight, gives your BMI and feeds biological age.
"Weight"20 to 500 kg"Enables body composition analysis and Bio Age calculation".
"Maximum heart rate (optional)"100 to 230 bpmCuts your zones and training load from it.

Press "Save profile" ("Uložit profil"). The page says "Profile saved successfully". A field you empty and save is cleared. If a value is out of range, the answer says so, for example "Height must be between 50 and 280 cm." and "Please enter a valid date of birth." In feet and inches or stones and pounds, the boxes convert for you.

The time zone decides where one day ends and the next begins for every number ("today"), and the hours of the morning notification. Saving a location below can set it for you.

What a change does#

  • Birth date, sex and maximum heart rate send every stored day back to be recalculated, because they set the targets each day was scored against: the share of deep sleep, the heart-rate ceiling and the sleep need. The recalculation runs with the next sync and the nightly catch-up, so past numbers can move. See How the zones work for the maximum, Sleep need for the sleep target and Biological age.
  • Maximum heart rate is optional. "Do you know your maximum heart rate from a stress test or your watch? Enter it and we work out your zones and training load from it. Without it we estimate it from your age and your workouts. A change recalculates past sessions too." Leave it empty to go back to the estimate.
  • Height and weight refresh the biological age. They do not send past days for recalculation.
  • Saving measurements needs your consent to process health data, which the app asks for at sign-up (see Privacy and your data).

BMI and the scale card#

Below the fields a chip shows your BMI with a word and a color: under 18.5 "Underweight", under 25 "Normal", under 30 "Overweight", otherwise "Obese". It is calculated from the weight your scale measured when that was in the last 90 days, and says "from the scale" with the date. When the last weighing is older than 90 days, it uses the weight you typed.

If a smart scale is connected, a card "Body composition (from scale)" lists weight, body fat, muscle mass (named "Fat-free mass" when the figure is that), bone mass and body water, each with the day it was measured. It says "Values come from your smart scale and refresh on the next measurement."

Location for weather#

The card "Location for weather" ("Poloha pro počasí") sits under the profile. With a location the coach adds current weather, ozone and the UV index and shifts the suggested outdoor training time away from heat and poor air (see Daily coach). The card says: "The location is used only for weather and stored rounded."

  • "Automatic": "Detect my location" asks your browser or phone for its position, and "Refine location" repeats it later.
  • "Manual": type a city in "Type a city" and pick a match from the list.
  • The saved place shows with "GPS" or "city" and a "Remove" button. Coordinates are rounded to about 1 km before they are stored.
  • The time zone follows: when a newly saved place sets your time zone, the card says "Location saved. Timezone set to Europe/Prague." and the "Time zone" field of the profile shows the new zone.
  • If the permission is refused, the card says "Location access was refused. Allow it in your browser or phone settings, or switch to Manual and type a city".

Goals#

The section holds three cards: your daily step goal, the training goal and the energy pacing mode.

Daily step goal#

"Daily step goal" ("Denní cíl kroků") has two modes, "Automatic" and "Fixed". The Overview and the Progress tab measure your steps against it (see Progress).

Automatic is the default. It starts from your usual day over the 14 days that ended: the days with at least 500 steps, averaged over their middle band, from the 45th to the 85th percentile (at least 2 such days are needed). If your usual day is under the healthy line, 8,000 steps (7,000 from age 60), we set the goal 500 steps above it, never past the line. Your state of the day then moves it a little, by half of what recovery asks, and rounds it to 50 steps. A rested day can lift the goal by at most 500 steps above its base, and a poor night, a sleep debt, a week heavier than your month or a Body Alert above 50 can lower it. It never falls under 3,000.

You usually walk about 6,000 steps. That is under the line of 8,000, so the base is 6,000 + 500 = 6,500. On a morning with readiness 50 the day's multiplier is 0.8, and half of it reaches the goal: 6,500 × 0.9 = 5,850. On a morning with readiness 100 it is 6,500 × 1.1 = 7,150, capped at the base plus 500, so 7,000.

Fixed gives one number every day. Choose "Fixed", enter "Steps a day (3,000 to 40,000)" and press "Save": "Step goal saved". The field moves in steps of 500, and any whole number in the range is saved rounded to the nearest 100. A fixed goal needs no history and ignores the state of the day. Back to "Automatic" applies at once: "The step goal is automatic again".

With the energy pacing mode on, the card says "In energy pacing mode we do not set a step goal." and offers nothing.

Training goal#

"Training goal" ("Cíl tréninku") sets the weekly plan on the Training card in the Performance tab: eight goals, four levels, and the race date when it is a race. Premium chooses it, and under 18 the WHO guideline applies. The card says: "We raise the dose step by step from your habit, and your body always comes first." Everything about goals, levels and the week is in Training plan.

Energy pacing#

"Energy pacing" ("Šetření energií") is a mode for people who need to stay inside their own limits. It has a switch "Turn on energy pacing mode", a field "Heart-rate ceiling (60 to 180 bpm)", the button "Suggest from resting heart rate" and "Save ceiling". It cannot be turned on without a ceiling. It is free. All of it is explained in Energy pacing.

Devices#

The section shows your data sources and holds the controls that belong to them.

  • "Data sources" shows the sources you already have, with "Add a source" to go to the full Connect page, and the Garmin export card. See Devices for each connection, Sync for how data arrive and Troubleshooting when they do not.
  • The line "Hidden sections: ..." appears when your devices do not send what a tab is built from. It lists the tabs left out and says "They come back as soon as your device sends their data."

Where your steps come from#

The card "Where your steps come from" ("Z čeho počítat kroky") appears only when two or more of your devices count steps, or a choice is stored. "More than one of your connected devices counts steps. Choose the one you wear all day. We take steps, distance, calories and active minutes from it on days it measured them. Heart rate and sleep are not affected." The choices are "Automatic" and each device by name. Saving says "Saved. We are recalculating the last 90 days, usually within a minute." If the device you chose is disconnected, the choice still applies to the days it measured, and "Automatic" clears it. "Automatic follows a fixed order, the same for every account, not what you wore that day." See Sources and overlap.

The phone#

In the Android app, a card lets you grant Health Connect, and once the phone has written anything, "The phone as a data source" shows what it supplies and when it last wrote. The switch "Use data from the phone" says: "Switch this off and we stop accepting what the phone sends. Days it already wrote stay as they are." In a browser, an "Android app" card points to Google Play with a QR code to scan. The permission itself is granted and withdrawn on the phone, in the Health Connect app.

The Garmin watch app#

The card "Garmin watch app (Connect IQ)" makes the pairing code ("Generate pairing code"), shows "A watch is paired" with its date and has "Unpair watch". The steps and what the watch shows are in Notifications, widgets and the watch.

Notifications#

Up to four switches: "Push notifications", "Email from MyBodyAI", "News by email" and, for accounts with a Garmin export, "Garmin export reminder". Each one, with what always comes regardless, is in Notifications, widgets and the watch. In short: switching "Email from MyBodyAI" off stops all optional e-mail, "News by email" stops only the news, and sign-in codes and security notices always come.

Account & security#

"Account & security" ("Účet a zabezpečení") holds "Password" ("Heslo"), "Two-factor authentication", "Signed-in devices", "Trusted devices", the button "Log out of all other devices" and, in the Android app only, "App lock". A password has at least 8 characters. The rules, the recovery codes and what each button does are in Privacy and your data.

Subscription#

"Subscription" ("Předplatné") shows your plan and its badge ("Active", "Ending", "Free trial", "Payment problem", "No subscription" or "Premium forever"), the plan, the price and "Next payment", and the buttons "Change plan", "Change payment card", "Invoices and payment history" and "Cancel subscription". In the Android app it shows only the status and says where billing is managed. Everything is in Plans.

Data & privacy#

Workout route map#

The card "Workout route map" ("Mapa tras tréninků") has a choice "On" or "Off". "While it is on, your account keeps the routes of workouts recorded with GPS and the workout page shows them on a map (Premium). The area around the start and the finish is hidden. When you turn it off, we delete the routes your account kept and keep no new ones." Without Premium it can only be turned off, and "When Premium ends, we turn the map off and delete the routes kept." Turning it on says "The route map is on"; off says "The route map is off and the stored routes are deleted". The width of the hidden area is set on the workout page (see Activities).

Your data#

The card "Your data" ("Vaše data") has "Export my data" and "Delete account". What the file holds, how deletion works and what we keep are in Privacy and your data.

Contact#

The section "Contact" ("Kontakt") holds the same form as the website, answered at your account's address. Choose what it is about: "Question", "A mistake or a number that does not add up", "Devices and data", "Subscription and payments", "Privacy and deleting data" or "An idea". The message needs at least 5 and at most 2,000 characters. "Attach technical details" is ticked when you are signed in, and the form lists "What is sent": your account number, data sources, the version of the calculation, the page, the app build, the browser and the time zone. "No health numbers are sent." The note says we use your message and address only to answer you and keep them 24 months after we have answered. The privacy policy has the legal basis (section 2.6). In the Android app a link "Rate on Google Play" sits above the form.

Under the form, "Community" links our public pages: the Facebook group, Threads and Instagram.

Frequently asked questions#

Why did my numbers change after I edited my profile?#

Because birth date, sex and maximum heart rate set the targets your days are scored against. When one of them changes, every stored day is recalculated with the next sync and the nightly catch-up. See what a change does.

Why is there no "Text size" row on my computer?#

It is offered on touch screens only. A computer browser has its own zoom (Ctrl and +).

Why did my units not change when I travelled?#

"Auto" guesses once from your time zone and keeps the guess. To change, choose "Metric", "US" or "UK" by hand.

Can I set a step goal under 3,000?#

No. A fixed goal runs from 3,000 to 40,000 steps, and the automatic one never falls under 3,000.

Why does the energy pacing card say it cannot be turned on?#

The mode needs a heart-rate ceiling first. Type one, or use "Suggest from resting heart rate", and press "Save ceiling". See Energy pacing.

Where is the weekly report in Settings?#

It is not a setting. Open the account menu (your initials) and choose "Weekly report". Its e-mail is switched in the section "Notifications".

My saved location says "Timezone set to ..." and my day moved. Why?#

A newly saved location sets your time zone to the place's zone, so your day ends where you are. Change the zone back in "Profile" and press "Save profile" if that is not what you want.
